Softball Recap: Genesee's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Genesee dropped their record down to 9-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Potlatch Loggers, falling 12-6. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Sydney Banks was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylie Baysinger, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Potlatch, the win keeps they at an undefeated 7-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10.9 runs thus far.

On Potlatch's side, they got a great performance from Brieanna Winther as she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Jaida Andres was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Andres is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Heitstuman, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

Genesee and Potlatch should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Idaho Rankings. The Bulldogs will challenge Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] at 3:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (33 vs. 95). Meanwhile, Potlatch (ranked 24th) will meet Bonners Ferry (ranked 87th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
