Soccer Game Preview: Newberry vs. Trinity Catholic

The Newberry Panthers will take on the Trinity Catholic Celtics at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newberry will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Newberry is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They skirted past Williston 3-2.

Maximus Dietz and Keegan Lowry scored all three of Newberry's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 34 goals.

Meanwhile, Trinity Catholic beat P.K. Yonge 4-2 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Celtics.

Trinity Catholic has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those six games. As for Newberry, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3-1.

Newberry might still be hurting after the 6-2 loss they got from Trinity Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Newberry avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
