Basketball Game Preview: Paynesville Bulldogs vs. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars

Paynesville is 1-9 against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Paynesville Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars at 7:00 p.m.

Paynesville is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. 2025 welcomed they with a 62-37 loss courtesy of Central Minnesota Christian. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Bluejays are ranked 66th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa). They blew past Eden Valley-Watkins 68-42 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Jaguars who have now won three contests in a row.

Paynesville's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Paynesville couldn't quite finish off Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 48-45. Can Paynesville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
