Basketball Recap: Cibola Takes a Loss

Cibola's tournament run continued when they took on Providence on Thursday. The Cibola Raiders fell 58-51 to the Providence Pioneers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Raiders came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 151st in Arizona, while the Pioneers are ranked 481st in California).

Cibola has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Providence, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Cibola will challenge Camelback at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cibola is facing Camelback at the right time seeing as Camelback is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Providence, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clovis East at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
