Baseball Recap: Bloomfield Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Montclair Kimberley Academy, Bloomfield was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Memorial Tigers. The victory continues a trend for the Bengals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Kevin Obiedzinski made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Bloomfield: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-15 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Attas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jack Menake, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 7-16. As for Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Bloomfield will venture away from home to face off against Glen Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bengals are facing the Ridgers at the right time seeing as the Ridgers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
