Volleyball Recap: Liberty Falls Short Against Ranked Del Sol

Liberty faced Del Sol in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Patriots fell 3-1 to the Dragons. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dragons earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Liberty might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Del Sol: every set was decided by two points or less. The match finished with set scores of 33-31, 25-23, 26-28, 28-26.

JORDAN VALDEZ paced Liberty's offense, picking up 19 kills. VALDEZ got some help from DYLAN DOMINE and his 38 assists. Finally, JAYLEN GAN kept Liberty's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Liberty has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-11 record this season. As for Del Sol, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-8.

Liberty has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Coronado on the 29th. As for Del Sol, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Alta on the 25th.
