Basketball Recap: Northwood Comes Up Short

Northwood suffered their biggest defeat since February 23rd on Monday. They were dealt a 58-31 loss at the hands of the Jena Giants. The contest marked the Gators' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Northwood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jahari Mccoy, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. Mccoy is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Landon Tinsley was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Northwood and nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for Jena, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwood will venture away from home to face off against Oberlin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jena, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Forest at 5:00 p.m. on January 21, 2025.
