Softball Recap: Unicoi County Blue Devils vs. Cocke County Fighting Cocks
With a playoff win on the line, Unicoi County rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Cocke County Fighting Cocks. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on three straight.

Lela Byrd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Aaliyah Engle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kianna Woodward, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Unicoi County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cocke County only posted a batting average of .077.
Unicoi County's record now sits at 19-7. As for Cocke County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 29-6-1.
As of now, neither Unicoi County nor the Fighting Cocks have any future games scheduled.
