Football Recap: Grossmont Skates Past Academy of Our Lady of Peace with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grossmont). They took their match on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 39-7 victory over the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots. With the Foothillers ahead 26-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Among those leading the charge was Marissa Farace, who threw for 268 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.8 yards per attempt. That's the most passing yards she has posted since back in October of 2024.

Grossmont didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Leah Garcia and Gabi Thomas.

The win made it two in a row for Grossmont and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.5 points over those games. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grossmont will head out to face off against Valhalla at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they will venture away from home to take on Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
