Football Recap: Grossmont Skates Past Academy of Our Lady of Peace with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grossmont). They really took it to the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots for the full four quarters, racking up a 39-7 win. With the Foothillers ahead 26-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Grossmont can attribute much of their success to Marissa Farace, who threw for 268 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.8 yards per attempt. That's the most passing yards Farace has posted since back in October of 2024.

Grossmont didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Academy of Our Lady of Peace to a completion percentage of just 37.5%. The team can thank Skyler Glover for the heroic effort on defense: she. Grossmont wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 61.9%.

Several Pilots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenna Smith, who picked up 108 receiving yards and one touchdown. Smith was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 55 yards.

The victory made it two in a row for Grossmont and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.5 points over those games. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Grossmont wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 26-0 victory against Valhalla on the 21st. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they have also already played their next game, a 25-8 win against Lincoln on the 26th.
