Baseball Game Preview: Mulberry Panthers vs. Winter Haven Blue Devils

The Mulberry Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Winter Haven Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Mulberry has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

It was a proper cat-fight when Mulberry duked it out with Inspiration Academy on Tuesday. Mulberry won by a run and slipped past Inspiration Academy 5-4.

Coby Anker looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayden Wyatt, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Winter Haven was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-4 to Auburndale. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Winter Haven's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Mulberry, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Mulberry took their victory against Winter Haven in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 8-2. Will Mulberry repeat their success, or does Winter Haven have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
