The Wingate Bears will square off against the Tularosa Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wingate has three straight victories, Tularosa has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Wingate made easy work of Hot Springs and carried off a 20-4 win. Considering the Bears have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sasha Johnson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Savannah Reyes was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, while it was Tularosa who put the first runs on the board on Saturday, it was Cobre who put up more. The Wildcats fell 8-5 to the Indians.
Bailey Perea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tularosa saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrienne Jaramillo, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Wingate's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Tularosa, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wingate hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Tularosa struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wingate might still be hurting after the 19-0 defeat they got from Tularosa when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
