Softball Recap: Bonneville Comes Up Short

Bonneville extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-16 in the process. They fell 12-8 to the Bountiful RedHawks. Even though they lost, the Lakers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Ellee Summers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Madilynn DeGroot was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double.

As for Bountiful, they pushed their record up to 23-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Bountiful's side, Ella Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Miller has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Claire Yates, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Rasmussen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Bonneville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bountiful, they will take on Riverton at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the RedHawks 2.6, the Silverwolves 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
