Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. Yorkville Foxes

The St. Francis Spartans will be taking part in a tournament against the Yorkville Foxes at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. St. Francis is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

St. Francis is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against DePaul College Prep two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. St. Francis had to suffer through a 65-35 loss at the hands of DePaul College Prep. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.

Meanwhile, Yorkville posted their biggest victory since November 27th on Friday. They put the hurt on Plainfield Central with a sharp 56-35 win. Given the Foxes' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Wildcats are ranked 673rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Francis' loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Yorkville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

St. Francis was able to grind out a solid win over Yorkville in their previous matchup back in February, winning 58-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Francis since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
