Baseball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Raiders vs. Mountain View Eagles

The Blue Ridge Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Mountain View Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Blue Ridge was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They skirted past Wyalusing Valley 9-7. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Tunkhannock 9-8.

Mountain View let Tanner Holtsmaster and Ziggy Bradford run wild. Holtsmaster went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Bradford went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Mountain View is undefeated when Bradford posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. Blue Ridge's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6.

Blue Ridge came up short against Mountain View when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
