Basketball Recap: Freeport Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Freeport, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They skirted past the Monroe Cheesemakers 54-51. This was payback for the Pretzels, who suffered a 74-60 loss the last time these two teams met.

Freeport had a senior duo take command as Cooper Hathaway posted nine points and seven rebounds and Deklyn Rustad put up 12 points. Zayvius Brooks was another key player, putting up eight points.

Freeport picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 6-8. As for Monroe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Freeport will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Boylan Catholic at 7:15 p.m. Freeport is facing Boylan Catholic at the right time seeing as Boylan Catholic is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Monroe, they are taking a road trip to take on Sauk Prairie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
