Preview: Galloway Scots vs. Saraland Spartans
Having just played yesterday, the Galloway Scots will get right back to it and host the Saraland Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on December 20th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Galloway's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Atlanta Classical Academy by a score of 72-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their defeat, Galloway saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Vaughn Murphy, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Murphy scored a full 26.1% of Galloway's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of JB Clark, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Saraland, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-29 loss to St. Martin on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Saraland has scored all season.
Galloway has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Saraland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
