Basketball Recap: Portland Falls Despite Big Games from Elizabeth Barr and Morganne Pineda

Portland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westbrook Knights. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Portland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Morganne Pineda, who posted 18 points and four steals, and Elizabeth Barr, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Portland was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Portland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Westbrook, they moved to 1-1 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Portland will host Montville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westbrook, they will head out to take on Old Lyme at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
