Softball Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Carlsbad Lancers
The Del Norte Nighthawks will face off against the Carlsbad Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Del Norte has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Del Norte's tournament run continued when they took on Christian on Tuesday. Del Norte fell just short of Christian by a score of 3-2.
Ava Giaime put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lainey LLamas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Meanwhile, Carlsbad was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Poway, falling 14-1.
Carlsbad saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madilyn Mazzulla, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Del Norte's record is now 5-4-1. As for Carlsbad, their record now sits at 0-6.
