Softball Recap: Wood Memorial Trojans vs. Princeton Tigers
Wood Memorial couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They suffered a tough 18-4 defeat at the hands of the Princeton Tigers on Monday. The loss means Wood Memorial is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.
For Princeton's part, Raegan Etolen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Etolen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Laney Shadwick was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and a triple. Ashton Cox was another key contributor, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
