Basketball Game Preview: Salpointe Catholic Lancers vs. Centennial Coyotes

After both having extra time off, the Salpointe Catholic Lancers and the Centennial Coyotes will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Two weeks ago, Salpointe Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Nogales, taking the game 57-49.

While Centennial didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They skirted past Verrado 64-62. 64 seems to be a good number for the Coyotes as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Centennial's win came from a few key players Salpointe Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Johnny Rios, who went 8-for-14 en route to 22 points along with eight assists and three steals. His big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Delafield, who posted 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Centennial was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory got Salpointe Catholic back to even at 3-3. As for Centennial, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
