Softball Recap: Fayette Academy Gets the Win

Fayette Academy proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Memphis Home Education Association 10-8.

Leah Culver made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Culver was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Fayette Academy let Hannah Fly and Kasey Kimery run wild. Fly went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Kimery scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Kimery has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Tatum Summers was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Fayette Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Fayette Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Memphis Home Education Association, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fayette Academy will venture away from home to take on Haywood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Memphis Home Education Association, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fayette Ware at 5:30 p.m. on April 7.
