Basketball Recap: Enloe Takes a Loss

Enloe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost to the Athens Drive Jaguars on the road by a 48-32 margin. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-40 last Wednesday.

Despite the loss, Enloe saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gui Wilkins went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points.

Athens Drive's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Crumpton, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Crumpton a new career-high in blocks (three). Chay Smith was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Enloe's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Athens Drive, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Enloe and Athens Drive could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Enloe will challenge Leesville Road at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 319 places (402 vs. 83). Similarly, Athens Drive (ranked 229th) will meet Broughton (ranked 61st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
