Basketball Game Preview: Chaminade-Madonna Lions vs. Somerset Prep

The Chaminade-Madonna Lions will head out to face off against Somerset Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Chaminade-Madonna is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering McArthur just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 61-38 to the Mustangs.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Nylah Lewis and Ciara Sejour. Sejour had a great game and posted 24 points along with five boards and three steals. Meanwhile, Lewis did her best for the losing side, putting up six points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Somerset Prep entered their tilt with Centennial on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 70-60 victory over the Eagles.

Chaminade-Madonna better keep an eye on Gabrielle King. She was instrumental in Somerset Prep's win, as she made all 11 shots she took to post 27 points along with six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave King a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Chardae Rumph, who made all 7 shots she took racking up 17 points and five assists.

Somerset Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 22 assists in three consecutive matchups.

Somerset Prep has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chaminade-Madonna has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 36.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Somerset Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
