Softball Recap: Tomball Memorial Wins Going Away Against Klein Collins

Tomball Memorial hadn't done well against Klein Collins recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wildcats blew past the Tigers 11-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-8 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Lacey Matheson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Kamdyn Folsom was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Tomball Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Klein Collins only posted a batting average of .211.

Tomball Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Klein Collins, they dropped their record down to 2-19 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Tomball Memorial Wildcats take on Tomball Cougars at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Tomball will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Tomball Memorial surely won't give up without a fight. As for Klein Collins, they will challenge Magnolia at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
