Baseball Recap: St. David's Warriors vs. Coastal Christian Centurions
St. David extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-6 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coastal Christian Centurions. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Centurions from their previous meeting back in March of 2020.
Thomas Vinson and John Thagard did some serious damage despite the final result: Vinson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Thagard got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Coastal Christian, their record now sits at 4-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 7, 2024.
On Coastal Christian's side, Andrew Harrison was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Harrison has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Chase Davis was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hudson Weare, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Coming up, St. David's will be playing in front of their home fans against New Life Camp at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Coastal Christian, they will head out to challenge Wilmington Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
