Recap: Calumet Christian Patriots vs. Hammond Baptist Swordsmen

After flying high against Quentin Road Christian on Thursday, the Calumet Christian Patriots came back down to earth. Calumet Christian was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 44-43 to Hammond Baptist. While losing is never fun, Calumet Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while Hammond Baptist is ranked 74th).

Calumet Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brad Nymeyer, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Nymeyer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Klarc Taylor, who scored nine points along with four steals.

Calumet Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Hammond Baptist, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Calumet Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against State Line Christian at 10:00 a.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Calumet Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday. Hammond Baptist does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
