Preview: Hutto Hippos vs. Stony Point Tigers

Hutto is 0-5 against Stony Point since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hutto Hippos will look to defend their home court against the Stony Point Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Monday, Hutto came up short against Burnet and fell 44-36.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Stony Point's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harker Heights. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Stony Point came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Harker Heights is ranked 416th).

Defeat or not, Stony Point got some senior leadership from Naomi Ofunrein who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals and Mary Bortels who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds. Ofunrein scored a full 48.4% of Stony Point's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Hutto has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Stony Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
