Incarnate Word Academy hasn't had much luck against Lafayette recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Incarnate Word Academy Red Knights will be staying on the road to face off against the Lafayette Lancers at 5:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Incarnate Word Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: St. Dominic, who was ranked fifth in their home state at the time (Incarnate Word Academy was ranked tenth). Incarnate Word Academy had just enough and edged St. Dominic out 3-2 on Wednesday.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Incarnate Word Academy who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 20-25, 25-17, 17-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Lafayette had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They skirted past the SkyHawks 2-1.
