Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Noah Saundrs and Nicholas Farr Lead Cousino to Victory

After losing to Eastpointe the last time they met, Cousino decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cousino Patriots sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 win over the Eastpointe Shamrocks on Wednesday. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Shamrocks are ranked 485th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Cousino to victory were Nicholas Farr and Noah Saundrs. Farr posted 24 points, while Saundrs went 5-for-7 en route to 14 points and five boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which Farr has scored at least a third of Cousino's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jevon Bronner, who put up four points and five rebounds.

Cousino smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Cousino is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points over those games. Eastpointe now has a losing record of 10-11.

Coincidentally, Cousino and Eastpointe will both be playing Tournament Opponent the next time they take the court. Eastpointe will host Tournament Opponent on Monday, while Cousino will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on February 26th.
