Baseball Recap: Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets vs. Upper Scioto Valley Rams
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cory-Rawson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Upper Scioto Valley Rams, sneaking past 9-8. This was payback for the Fighting Hornets, who suffered a 22-9 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Shyler Ludwig made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off 13 hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Austin Inbody was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Cory-Rawson is 3-1 when Inbody posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-9 otherwise. Cain Kueneke also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Cory-Rawson's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
