Baseball Recap: Branford Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Branford waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Dixie County Bears as they made off with a 13-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Jackson Skinner was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Kyler Williamson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Skinner wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Branford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for Branford: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.

Branford's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Dixie County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Coincidentally, Branford and Dixie County will both be playing Lafayette the next time they take the field. Dixie County will host Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Branford will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
