Basketball Recap: Southside Takes a Loss

Southside played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 72-21 loss at the hands of the Martin County Gators. The defeat continues a trend for the Seahawks in their meetings with the Gators: they've now lost four in a row.

Martin County was led to victory by Brianna Williams and Cedreyonna Rodgers. Williams shot 41% from the field to rack up 20 points and three steals, while Rodgers posted ten points in addition to six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Powell, who earned nine points and eight boards.

Southside's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Southside has already played their next game (against Riverside-Martin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Martin County will be paying especially close attention to the Seahawks' matchup: after the Seahawks face off against the Knights, they'll take on Martin County again at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
