Volleyball Recap: Wahconah Regional Takes a Loss

If Wahconah Regional was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Agawam on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers on Thursday. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Beavers 25-20 in the first set.

Wahconah Regional started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 26-24, 27-25, 25-18.

Taea Cunagin paced Wahconah Regional's offense, picking up 17 kills. Cunagin got some help from Melaina Haczela and her 30 assists. Alexandra Rougeau controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Wahconah Regional has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.

Looking ahead, Wahconah Regional will host Chicopee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Springfield Renaissance at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
