Baseball Recap: Reedley Has No Trouble Against Golden West

After only one run in their last contest, Reedley made sure to put some runs up on the board against Golden West on Saturday. The Reedley Pirates were the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over the Golden West Trailblazers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Braden Ortiz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Reedley let Alex Rodriguez and Mason Cisneros run wild. Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Cisneros scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Cisneros a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Tamez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Reedley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden West only posted an OBP of .286.

The victory got Reedley back to even at 1-1. As for Golden West, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Reedley beat Golden West by a score of 5-3 later that day.
