Baseball Recap: Renton Takes a Loss

Renton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They came up short against the Lindbergh Eagles, falling 9-2. The Red Hawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Renton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Thor, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Thor has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another was Diego Aguirre, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Lindbergh, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On Lindbergh's side, Isaiah Motley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaron Melendres-Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Lindbergh: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Campos, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lindbergh beat Renton by a score of 18-8 on Saturday.
