Softball Game Preview: Broughton Capitals vs. Knightdale Knights

The Broughton Capitals will venture away from home to square off against the Knightdale Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Broughton nor Knightdale posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Broughton lost 8-2 to Green Level on Wednesday.

Avery Troxell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lucy Bertram, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Knightdale unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against East Wake on Tuesday, falling 22-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Broughton took their victory against Knightdale in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Broughton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
