Softball Recap: Granville Wins Going Away Against North Warren Central

While Granville put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for North Warren Central. The Golden Horde blew past the Cougars 17-0. The Golden Horde haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Joysie Velez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Velez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Granville let Caroline Baker and Lillian Baker run wild. Caroline went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Lillian went 1-for-3 with six RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Caroline a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Olsen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Granville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Granville's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for North Warren Central, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Granville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-7 victory against Corinth on the 30th. North Warren Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
