Baseball Recap: Smithville Triumphs

Smithville won the last time they faced Houlka and things went their way on Friday too. Smithville came out on top against Houlka by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Seminoles.

Carson Spann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Chance Robinson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Spann, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Smithville picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-15. As for Houlka, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Coming up, Smithville will head out to challenge West Union at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Houlka, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Ingomar at 5:00 p.m.
