Baseball Recap: Henderson County Wins Going Away Against Webster County

Henderson County had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 8-12 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Webster County Trojans 10-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 on Wednesday.

Maddox Golday tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Corben Throgmorton was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Will Schwartz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

As for Webster County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

On Webster County's side, Trace Hardison made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Hardison has become a key player for the Trojans: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-11 otherwise.

Coming up, Henderson County will challenge Madisonville-North Hopkins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Maroons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Colonels surely won't give up without a fight. As for Webster County, they will face off against Trigg County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
