Baseball Recap: Chaparral Victorious

The Chaparral Wolverines beat the Liberty Lancers 7-3 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Chaparral got a great performance from Tommy Humphrey as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Chaparral's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carson Munroe, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Josh McWilliams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory got Chaparral back to even at 4-4. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Chaparral will square off against Brighton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaparral's pitchers better be ready for this one: Brighton has averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Liberty, they will face off against Fountain-Fort Carson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain-Fort Carson will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Liberty surely won't give up without a fight.
