Baseball Recap: Trenton Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tom Bean, Trenton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Tioga Bulldogs by a score of 8-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-6 back in March.

Wyatt Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Trenton's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landry Yowell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Paxton Gonzalez was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Trenton's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Tioga, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-12-1.

Looking ahead, Trenton will head out to challenge Whitewright at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Trenton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Whitewright has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Tioga, they will host Collinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
