Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Deangelo Martinez and Gage Toledo Lead Big Valley Christian to Victory

It was a proper cat-fight when Big Valley Christian duked it out with Escalon on Monday. Big Valley Christian put the hurt on Escalon with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-15, 25-15.

Big Valley Christian was led to victory by Gage Toledo and Deangelo Martinez. Toledo had 29 assists and two aces, while Martinez had five digs. Toledo is crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season.

When it comes to explaining why Escalon lost, don't look at Aydun Melo. Despite the final result, he had 12 digs and two assists. Carson Medina also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Big Valley Christian's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Escalon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Coming up, Big Valley Christian will square off against Riverbank at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Escalon, they will face off against Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
