Softball Game Preview: Gulf Breeze Dolphins vs. West Florida Jaguars

The Gulf Breeze Dolphins will face off against the West Florida Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Gulf Breeze turned things around against Destin on Monday. They blew past the Sharks 20-2. With that win, the Dolphins brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Jessica Jagar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Jagar was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Gulf Breeze got a massive performance out of Kylie Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Reed has posted since back in February. Jasmine Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Gulf Breeze was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, West Florida made sure to put some runs up on the board against Choctawhatchee on Friday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over the Indians. Considering the Jaguars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

West Florida now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Gulf Breeze, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Everything went Gulf Breeze's way against West Florida when the teams last played back in March, as Gulf Breeze made off with a 15-9 victory. Do the Dolphins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
