Soccer Game Preview: El Toro vs. San Clemente

El Toro is 1-8-1 against San Clemente since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Chargers will host the Tritons at 5:15 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

El Toro took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Mission Viejo a 5-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what El Toro needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

They hit Mission Viejo with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gianluca D'Amato (2), Maverick Roney, Braylon Roney, and Jackson Richardson.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, San Clemente made sure to put some goals up on the board against Aliso Niguel on Friday. They put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 4-1 victory. The win continues a trend for San Clemente in their matchups with Aliso Niguel: they've now won four in a row.

San Clemente's victory bumped their record up to 8-4-2. As for El Toro, their win bumped their record up to 17-2-5.

El Toro skirted past San Clemente 3-2 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tritons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
