Recap: Cedaredge Bruins vs. Mancos Bluejays
The Cedaredge Bruins's 18-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mancos on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Cedaredge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Mancos is ranked 106th).
When it comes to explaining why Cedaredge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Tullis. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Rylan Brooks was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Even though they lost, Cedaredge were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Mancos' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andrew Jaime led the charge by scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Jaime is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Medina, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Cedaredge's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mancos, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Cedaredge will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Plateau Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Plateau Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 342 points over their last five matchups. Mancos will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ouray at 4:30 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
