Baseball Recap: Rauner Comes Up Short

Rauner entered their contest against ITW David Speer Academy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats came up short against the Pride, falling 17-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pride this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Saturday.

Lucas Ghanimah was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Diego Fernandez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Rauner and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for ITW David Speer Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rauner is set to challenge their familiar foe Muchin College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, ITW David Speer Academy will face off against rival Noble Street College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
