Softball Game Preview: Sulphur Springs Wildcats vs. Andrews Mustangs

For the second straight game, Sulphur Springs will face off against Andrews. The Wildcats will face off against the Mustangs on Saturday. The last three games Sulphur Springs has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Sulphur Springs heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Andrews by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since March 28th.

Hannah Speed put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Speed was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Emerson Thompson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

The win was the 13th in a row for Andrews, bringing their record up to 35-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Sulphur Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 30-9.
