Baseball Game Preview: Kalida Wildcats vs. St. John's Bluejays

The Kalida Wildcats will head out to face off against the St. John's Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Kalida will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Kalida had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Crestview on Saturday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 11-1 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between St. John's and Minster, and Minster kept the tradition alive. The Bluejays fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The loss put an end to the Bluejays' undefeated start to the season.

St. John's saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyce McClain, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Kalida pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. John's, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Kalida couldn't quite finish off St. John's in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
