Softball Game Preview: Tehachapi Warriors vs. Porterville Panthers

The Tehachapi Warriors will take on the Porterville Panthers in a tournament on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Thursday, Tehachapi came up short against Paraclete and fell 8-3. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Spirits recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Emily Perkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Porterville didn't have quite enough to beat Tulare Union on Thursday and fell 10-8.

Maddisyn Montecinos was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Sandoval, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Porterville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tulare Union only posted an OBP of .364.

Tehachapi's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Porterville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
